Glenmore House ..................website
Founded in 1971 Surbiton
Probus Club has until now always met at the Antoinette Hotel in Kingston.
But now the members have decided to move on and from its July 2007 meeting
will foregather at Glenmore House conveniently situated at No 6 The Crescent, within minutes of central Surbiton and its excellent travel
facilities.
Probus is a luncheon club
with a difference. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month
to enjoy a good meal, companionship and an interesting talk. Speakers cover
a wide range of subjects from the worlds of work, sport, the arts, hobbies,
to the environment and so on. Weekends away (with partners) usually take
place in the spring and autumn and have become very popular.
Membership is open to men
who have retired or partly retired and who have worked in a professional or
business environment. Further details can be obtained from
The
General Secretary.

Elizabethan Suite
Glenmore House was constructed in 1840 and is located in
the Surbiton conservation area. The building is a fine example of the
architectural transition from late Georgian to the early Victorian and was one
of the first substantive family homes to be built in Surbiton. Over time it has
been extended to include a ballroom, multipurpose rooms, two bars and a 100
capacity car park. Recent improvements include disabled toilets and a lift
providing access to all floors.
Since 1920 we have delivered standards of excellence to our patrons who
appreciate fine wines, food and service. Originally established as a private
club our facilities are now available for booking by non-members. Our friendly
and professional staff continue to ensure that every occasion at Glenmore House
proves to be memorable.
